Amazon Firestick IPTV Setup Tutorial
Step-by-step instructions to install and configure IPTV on Amazon Firestick and Fire TV Cube.
Amazon Firestick is the most popular device for IPTV streaming in the UK, and for good reason — it is affordable, compact, and runs a version of Android that supports every major IPTV application. Setting up XiroTV on a Firestick takes less than 10 minutes and requires no technical expertise. This guide covers the complete setup process from enabling developer options through to navigating your full channel lineup.
Step 1 — Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
Amazon restricts installation of apps not available in the official Fire TV Appstore by default. To install IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, you first need to enable 'Apps from Unknown Sources'. From the Firestick home screen, navigate to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options > Apps from Unknown Sources and toggle it to ON. On newer Firestick models, this setting is under Settings > Preferences > Privacy Settings. You will see a security warning — tap 'Turn On' to proceed. This is safe and simply allows you to install apps from outside Amazon's store.
Pro Tip: If you purchase a Firestick 4K Max, the upgraded Wi-Fi 6E chip provides significantly better streaming stability compared to the standard Firestick Lite. For 4K IPTV streaming, the 4K Max is the recommended model at its price point.
Step 2 — Install Downloader App
The easiest way to install IPTV apps on Firestick is via the Downloader app, which is available directly from the Amazon Appstore. Search for 'Downloader' on the Firestick home screen and install it. Once installed, open Downloader and you will see a browser-style address bar. Type in the direct APK download URL for your chosen IPTV app: for IPTV Smarters Pro, visit the official website URL; for TiviMate, enter the TiviMate download link. The app will download and prompt you to install — tap Install and wait for completion.
Step 3 — Install IPTV Smarters Pro
IPTV Smarters Pro is the most widely used IPTV app and the one officially recommended by XiroTV support. It supports both M3U URL and Xtream Codes login methods, includes a built-in EPG guide, handles multiple playlists, and provides a clean TV-friendly interface. After installing via Downloader, open the app and select 'Add User' on the home screen. Choose 'Login with Xtream Codes API' and enter: the Server URL, Username, and Password from your XiroTV credentials email. Tap 'Add User' and your full channel list will load within 60–90 seconds.
Step 4 — Navigate to Firestick Home Screen
Once channels load in IPTV Smarters, add the app to your Firestick home screen for quick access. Hold down the Home button on your remote and select 'Recent Apps', then pin IPTV Smarters to your home screen. Alternatively, navigate to the Apps & Games row on your Firestick home screen, locate IPTV Smarters, hold the Select button and choose 'Move to front'. For an even better experience, set IPTV Smarters as your default launcher so it opens automatically when you turn on your TV — this can be configured in Settings > Applications > Default Applications.
Optimising Firestick for IPTV
Standard Firestick devices have limited RAM (1–2GB) which can cause IPTV apps to crash or buffer when running alongside other background processes. To optimise performance, regularly clear the cache of all apps you do not use, disable automatic updates during streaming hours, and restart your Firestick every 3–4 days to clear memory. Installing the 'Background Apps and Process List' app from the Appstore allows you to kill background processes before starting a streaming session, freeing up valuable RAM for smooth playback.
- Clear IPTV app cache weekly: Settings > Apps > Manage > IPTV Smarters > Clear Cache
- Disable screensaver: Settings > Display & Sounds > Screen Saver > Off
- Use Ethernet adapter for stable connection over Wi-Fi
- Restart Firestick every 3 days to maintain performance
Firestick Remote Tips for IPTV
Your Firestick Alexa remote can enhance your IPTV experience. Hold the microphone button and say 'Sky Sports Main Event' or 'TNT Sports 1' to use voice search within compatible IPTV apps. The rewind and fast-forward buttons on newer Firestick remotes work within TiviMate for seeking through recorded content or catching up on VOD titles. The Mute button doubles as a quick-access volume control that works independently of your TV's volume, useful for late-night viewing.
